文庙因祭祀大圣人孔子而建，是施行人文教化的场所。犍为文庙始建于北宋，重建于明代洪武四年，迄今已有600多年历史。座落于县城玉津镇南街297号，占地24000平方米，规模宏大，富丽堂皇，在全国现存文庙中，规模居全国第四，四川第一。紧傍文庙东南侧，有建于清代的节孝坊和奎阁，如众星拱月，构成了一庙、一坊、一阁富有传统地方文化特色的古建筑群。文庙建筑布局座北向南构成一条中轴线，自南端始，万仞宫墙，灵星门、泮池、大成门、燎台、大成殿 、启圣宫依次排列在中轴线上，贤关、圣域、礼门、义路、东庑、西庑等左右对称布局。文庙雄视四野八荒，琉璃滴翠，金碧辉煌，御路浮雕，燎台蝙蝠，柱础石刻，工艺精湛，巧夺天工。龙凤木雕，撑弓斗拱，图象八面玲珑，结构壮美传神，被称为 “犍为故宫”。文庙大成门三重檐牌楼式建筑是我国古代建筑史上绝无仅有的奇葩，受到中外建筑专家的青睐。孔子是一座儒家文化高峰，正是这样一种人格魅力，让犍为三迁三建，犍为文庙，作为智者的宣言，作为物化的儒学思想，永远定格在犍为的历史中，充满了厚重与沧桑。
